The Music Center has come up with a perfect way for angelinos to spend their summer Fridays: Dancing. May had a really warm closure when Subsuelo, the global bass party of choice in Los Angeles, was invited to host an evening of 100% cumbias. Beginner dance lessons were given throughout the night and kids to abuelitos danced their cumbia behinds off like pros.
A few members of Buyepongo joined the Subsuelo crew adding more cowbell and güiro to Landero, Sonora Dinamita and more. People often would come to the sound booth to turn up the volume! but come on, sound only reaches within a certain range, perhaps in the future speakers can be placed in every single corner to have Grand Park banging… but in the mean time, if you stick to the dance floor you are good… and if not, you are good too as the dance moves are inevitable contagious. Major props to DJs Canyonazo, Gazoo, Ethos and Gozar for making Los Angeles sweat really nice. For even more photos please visit FARAHSTOP, the music photography archive.
