It was my first time at Fais Do Do and between the music and crowd, this spot won my heart. The band Elevaters chose this place to have the album release of their new production “Come Alive” turning the entire place into a dance party. This Los Angeles-based independent hip-hop, dance and soul group is comprised of songwriters Sam Golzari and Benjamin Hall, producer/multi-instrumentalist David Noily and emcee Miles Gregley.
Along with special guests and their own infectious vibe plus a little bit of dub and traditional funk influences, they had the ability to engage the crowd into the music. The Elevaters’ night was backed up with very energetic dance numbers that dazzled the crowd for moments with dance performances inspired by their music. DJs Glenn Red from Afro Funke’ and Adam Stern added special touches to the night to keep the crowd dancing til the very end. My personal highlight, walking in as they sang a cover of Fat Freddy’s Drop “Flashback”. The Elevaters album is now on iTunes and is worth checking out.
